Fair Usage Policy

This is a feature to better manage the users currently logged into the Webroster.net database. What this feature does is prevent a single user taking up too many licences further preventing another user to log in. please see the below example:

If you presently have 10 Webroster.net licences and your database is configured for a maximum of 2 simultaneous logins by the same user, then if a user called USER2 logins in twice, you have 8 remaining licences. However, if USER2 attempts a third login the Webroster.net administrators can determine what happens next:

  1. Prevent USER2 from logging in a third time, but with no feedback
  2. Advise the USER2 user that they have exceed the maximum number of simultaneous logins and prevent the login
  3. Advise the USER2 user that they have exceeded the maximum number of simultaneous logins, but that if the user wants, Webroster.net will log them out of their oldest login and allow the current login to proceed
  4. Advise the USER2 user that they have exceeded the maximum number of simultaneous logins, and that Webroster.net will automatically log them out of their oldest login and allow the current login to proceed.

To find these options please follow these steps:

Click the setup button in the top right-hand corner

In the setup menu options on the left-hand side, click the option system

After selecting System please select the misc. Tab along the top

Within there you will see the following options

The fair usage policy grants the ability to control and manage licences without any one user consuming all, or many the licences, and allow the recovery of stale logins to be automatically released and granted back to the user.

The only Exception to this rule is User1, this user account will ALWAYS be able to log into the system as a Super user licence type.

User1’s priority WILL kick the oldest session of itself off following the above rules, however its different because it will actually kick another user off to get into the system.

Note: We have allowed this for the emergency cases, such a power cuts ect. To get people into the system as quickly as possible.
